Saint Jacques, Quebec, — IMPACK, a leader in box packaging automation technologies, is pleased to announce design upgrades to their flagship Ergosa semi-automatic packing solution making it more accessible, versatile, and efficient than ever before.

The Ergosa is renowned for its ability to automate critical packing movements while optimizing the ergonomic experience for operators. This reduces physical strain significantly, allowing packing personnel to increase speed. Such efficiency is crucial for production managers facing labor shortages.

What’s New with Ergosa?

IMPACK has refined the Ergosa design, enhancing the compatibility and interchangeability of its modules. These modifications not only increase the system’s flexibility to meet specific customer needs but also enable clients to start with a basic configuration and expand as their production evolves. The design upgrade results in an exponential number of potential configurations allowing IMPACK to meet the precise needs of each client at a competitive price. To serve the needs of clients with limited space at the end of the folder-gluer, IMPACK will continue to offer a compact version of the Ergosa with the option of installation in-line or with a 90-degree turn prior to the case management module. Unification of the system reinforces Ergosa’s position as the most flexible and adaptable packing solution on the market.

Previously, we offered two models: the partially modular Ergosa C and the non-upgradable, compact Ergosa A. The names have been updated to reflect the design update. The Fully modular version will now be called the Ergosa Universal Packing solution and the shorter version will be called the Ergosa Compact Packer. The name Ergosa retains its original significance—'Ergo' for ergonomic, 'sa' for semi-automatic.

This update makes the Ergosa a fully modular plug-and-play system, allowing us to more easily adapt to our client’s available floor space. Additionally, it means that the Ergosa can grow with our clients.  Clients can enter the Ergosa eco system with a base configuration and see immediate improvement in productivity. Later, they can add modules as budget allows or production evolves. With the Ergosa Modular Packer our clients get a comprehensive tailored solution at the price of a standard packer.- Mathieu Tremblay, Deputy General Manager

Retained Functionality

The Ergosa retains the key modules and specialized tooling that have defined the semi-automatic packer segment. It features the patented INH – a compact helical box turner that turns the shingle within only one meter without losing the kicker count while remaining in line with the folder-gluer. Integrated with the Ergosa the solution results in a very dense shingle facilitating more efficient box packing. The automatic case management system directs boxes toward a case flap folder before delivery to the case sealer. The Ergosa continues to offer three main packing modes for optimized packing of any box type:

  • Horizontal slide packing for small to medium straight-line boxes
  • Button-triggered automatic single or double row vertical packing for medium to large straight-line, 4/6 corner, and auto-bottom boxes
  • Backup dual hand packing mode for complex box types

Changeovers between modes still take just 3-7 minutes, underscoring the system’s ease of use and adaptability.

"Our commitment at IMPACK has always been to innovate in ways that make our clients' production lines more efficient and their operators' jobs easier," said Mathieu, "The improvements to the Ergosa Universal Packing Solution embody this commitment, providing a scalable, efficient, and user-friendly solution that grows with our clients."
