At IMPACK, expertise is not measured only in years of experience, but also in passion, craftsmanship, and dedication. Among the employees who reflect these values very well, Richard Rivet holds a very special place.

Richard has been part of the IMPACK journey since 2015. His professional path began with training in mechanical fitting, a field that allowed him to develop a wide range of essential skills: technical drawing, machining, heat treatment, welding, and blueprint reading. This versatility shaped a professional capable of understanding manufacturing as a whole, with a sharp eye and remarkable precision.

Before joining IMPACK, Richard worked in several companies, but it was at Cascades, where he spent 32 years as a team leader, that he truly distinguished himself. It was also there that he met the man who would later become the founder of IMPACK, Dominic Thériault. At the time, Dominic was completing internships at the plant. Despite their age difference, a sincere friendship grew between the two men.

Richard took Dominic under his wing, teaching him the language of the trade, the challenges of the shop floor, and the realities of the industry. Dominic would go on to complete three internships at Cascades, strengthening his ambition and expertise, encouraged by this unique mentorship.

When Cascades announced the closure of its plant, Richard lost his job. Yet throughout those years, he stayed in touch with Dominic, even taking the time each year to visit IMPACK’s facilities and follow the company’s growth.

After relocating to another plant, history repeated itself: three years later, that facility also shut down. Richard learned the news on a Tuesday, and the following Sunday, he received a life changing call. Dominic offered him a position at IMPACK.

Today, Richard is semi retired, but he continues to contribute to the company one day a week. He focuses mainly on spotting and tapping parts, a highly precise job. A single component can require up to 400 holes, an enormous task that ensures the perfect fit of every part.

With his impressive mechanical background, Richard brings the rigor, technique, and attention to detail needed to ensure every piece integrates flawlessly and everything works exactly as intended.

Richard is also known for a rare quality: his legendary patience. Some parts can warp after laser cutting, and everyone in the shop knows it. If a piece needs straightening or reshaping, Richard is the man for the job. His colleagues have even set up a dedicated area where they place parts to be corrected, confident that Richard will handle them with calm and precision.

Richard Rivet is far more than an employee. He is a living memory of the trade and a true symbol of the IMPACK spirit: a blend of skill, knowledge sharing, and humanity.
